I loved yesterdays prompt as it taught me a little about a country I have heard quite often of but never really learned anything about. And I just love the native name for Greenland: Kalaallit Nunaat. Sounds poetic in itself :-).
Today @FrauPaulchen leads us to a German poet and gives us a first line from one of his poems. That will be interesting. But here is the prompt:
(you can find the original German post here)
we all might have our next holiday in Greenland – our poems would be a great addition to all travel guides and holiday portals…!
the prompt for the #frapalymo poem on may 18th will be rather classical: “the first line is given to you: night is like a silent sea”. we want to start into our poem with the first line “night is like a silent sea” from the poem “the night-flower“* by joseph von eichendorff and i am curious what sort of day charm our “night-flowers” which all start from the same line will bring us!
and the small print: please let me know via email or Twitter, if you take part. then i can post the link to your blog/poem on Twitter. or post the link in the comments under the daily prompt post on my blog. hashtag for Twitter is #frapalymo and I am @FrauPaulchen.
* this is a link to an un-official translation of the poem. Unfortunately, it does not bring over the wonderful rhythm Eichendorffs poem has in German even though the words are entirely correct.

night is like a silent sea
singing to me in my dreams
singing soft and singing harsh
telling tales of fears and love
places I have never seen
places I have never been
will I follow all the way
through the mists into a …. *
