Another great blog event from 2015 that unfortunately does not exist anymore:
I am not quite sure what to think about my teaser today. It is a book I read for Booktour.tips and is called “The Many Lives of Ruby Iyer”. Can’t remember why I chose it for review. Probably because I like India and I want to know more about it. The story takes place in Bombay. Ruby, a born Bombay girl, lives with a friend but one morning on her way to work a man pushes her down the railway track. She doesn’t get run over by a train but survives being electrocuted my a crazy amount of volts and of course that cannot stay without consequences.
The story is just gripping and keeps you on the pages. The main character is a kick-ass female which I really love in stories, but the descriptions and characters just seem to be that tiny little bit off being natural and realistic. But maybe that’s just me. It is certainly worth reading, and here are my teasers:
“Well, if he isn’t going to acknowledge that we met at Toto’s last night, then neither am I. I ask, “What is that accent?”
