This is one of my projects from 2015 that had to go after a while. Shame.
I just can’t get away from prompts and poetry. While thinking about where my blog should go now after “A Prompt A Day For Bee” I realised that I just can’t do it without the poetry.
Difficult to find poetry prompts of a different kind
While doing #APADFB, I realised how difficult it is to get interesting poetry prompts. There are a few excellent pages, and blogs that help like the Writer’s Digests Wednesday Poetry Prompts, Tumblrs Daily PoetryPrompts and my all-time favourite “Language is a Virus”.
#frapalymo prompts are precisely right
Those usually work though with a series of words, situations or apps. What I was looking for was a different kind of poetry prompt.
One that challenges you to try out different poetry forms and/or combine various art forms into poetry. The prompts at #frapalymo are exactly what I am looking for but, unfortunately, #frapalymo only happens in May and November.
Doing my own poetry prompts
My muse poked and pushed me to do my own poetry prompt and as I am a good girl (even though I want to go everywhere 😉 ) I’ve decided to listen to her (yes a “her” as I have a hot male muse at home 😉 ). It needed a while though to get a title that satisfied both of us.
Finding a title
We went from the boring “Tuesday Poetry Prompt” to “One to rule them all” (still my favourite but she did not agree ) to “Bee’s Boetry Brompt” (don’t ask …). In the end, I wrote about it in my Morning Pages and voila “The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt” emerged.
The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt
“The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt” is a weekly poetry prompt that challenges you to try out different poetry forms and integrate other art forms into your poetry like drawing, photography, music.
I post it on Wednesdays even though I first thought about posting them on Tuesdays. However, my blogging schedule fits better that way. You have time until the next Tuesday to post your poem either on your blog or if you don’t have a blog here in the comment section. As most of us have a day job, that takes a lot of our time one a week is perfect in my eyes to keep our versing muscles fit. I encourage you to visit the other participant’s posts as it just gives us that little bit more motivation for our writing when we can see what others create.
No hassle ~ just fun
But remember “The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt” is a fun meme that encourages you to try out new frontiers with your poetry. We go experimental and just let our inner artist child play around with what is out there. If you post a poem, please leave a link to your post in the comment section or post it in the comments as well.
