We “WordItOut” on “The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt”

I am reposting this at the original date. Feel free to use the prompt even though the challenge is over:

This week’s “ The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt” will be real fun!

A few years ago my step-daughter showed me a great page. It is called “Wordle” and makes clouds out of words. They become beautiful pictures that you can change to your liking. (This page does not seem to work anymore so please use Word It Out instead)

Create a Wordle Word Cloud!

This is what it says on the “Wordle”-page: “Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from the text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and colour schemes. The images you create with Wordle are yours to use however you like. You can print them out, or save them to your own desktop to use as you wish.”

When I had a look today, I realised you can also do it with your blog if you have an RSS feed. How cool is that?

But how will “Wordle” translate into a prompt for a poem?

Well, what I would like you to do is to choose your favourite poem (doesn’t matter if it is from a famous poet, from your own or someone not yet discovered) and paste it into the “Word It Out” Text box.

Create the word cloud with Wordle. Then use the 4 main words (those which are the biggest in the cloud) and create a new poem out of it. Oh, I can’t wait to read and see your creations and write my poem. Please, do not forget to give credit to the creator of the poem you use.
