OMG!
Sorry, I try not to throw around abbreviations or use the G-word in a disrespectful way. However, today I just can’t help it.
I have a cold: a headache, sore throat, congested…. the whole monty! Went to work anyway as it was only four hours but when I came home I was really, really tired and just wanted to go to bed. Made myself a cup of camomille tea and had a quick look at Twitter and then I found this:
#BrexitInFiveWords
I haven’t laughed so much since before the referendum! I give you a couple of examples:

Mind you, half of them are not funny because they will have rather harsh consequences for us all. But it was nice to see that there are other people out there who think Brexit is an incredibly stupid idea and not only the best husband and I!
I actually just wanted to post a video today I saw at the TEDx-talks YouTube channel last week which made me think a lot. I have friends who seem to be fond of Brexit and friends in Germany who are trying to console themselves about their problems with moaning about immigrants and misbehaving refugees.
Now with the AfD in the Bundestag I am horrified to hear these things said even though they have been around ever since I was young. Probably never died out since 1933!
However, I have come to wonder if I am exactly like a brexiteer or one of those Germans who blame refugees and immigrants for everything just the other way round. And I have decided to start a conversation with my friends on exactly those topics which make me feel very, very uncomfortable. After all I have decided to become the change I want to see in this world and communication about difficult topics is certainly a part of that.
But here is the video that made me think so much:
I believe, in a world that becomes more and more divided, it is more important than ever to learn respectful communication with each other and to respect that others believe in something you believe is wrong. I have no idea how to do that. I have no idea if that should work in cases where people get harmed. I have no idea about a lot of things lately but I am determined to get an idea. What else can I do?
Do you try to talk to friends about difficult topics?
Please let me know in the comments.
