Let’s Get Physical ~ Music Monday Care & Love ~ Week 6

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen,

The Self-Care Explorer’s Experiences with a Break

I have enjoyed the Music Monday Care & Love break week very much. My way of celebrating was rather conventional. I have “allowed” myself a mug of spicy milky coffee every morning for breakfast and I pondered and celebrated what I have achieved over the last couple of months but also throughout my life. And then something crazy happened: I wanted to get physical! Yep. The Bee likes to do some exercise! Never heard of believe you me, my dear readers.

The Bee gets physical in Self-Care?

So far my life motto went with Churchill’s quote which he supposedly didn’t say ~ just my luck really ;-): “First of all no sports!” is the one and I am devastated. Not really. I just do not believe them LOL.

That doesn’t change the fact that I am supposedly 10 kg too heavy for my own good and need to cut down on the cookies and roasted vegetables. I am not really a fan of any of those funny diets which means you only eat cabbage (would be very German I suspect 😉 ) or pasta. I could live with the last one for sure but I do love a little veg and cheese with my noodles.

I do cut out a little bit though. First I eat smaller portions and I do not add sugar to my coffee. I don’t to me tea anyway. And I don’t eat much bread with butter. Otherwise, I keep going including the odd ice cream and apple crumble. Good heaven’s do I love a good apple crumble.

I believe you can eat what you want as long as you move your bum afterwards. The more you move the more you can eat. It is really that easy. However, I have worked with my phone’s Samsung health app for a week now and it is amazing how much you have to move to use up all those calories that are even in supposedly healthy foods. But that’s another story and there will be another Music Monday Care & love about it if that’s what you are interested in. Just let me know.

Well, my coffee celebration and being mindful of my eating habits made me want to get some actual exercise in my life. As many of you know we do walk the dog every morning so I do get at least 30 min of exercise anyway. I do some gardening too but I figured that’s not enough. And yes my figure is a point I am pondering. Being mindful is meant to make you feel happy with yourself and your body. Looks like that doesn’t work that way. At least not for me.

I have never worried too much about my looks. In fact, that is one thing I hardly cared about. No, I do not run around in a linen sack with dirt all over my face. Even I care a little bit about how I look like but I would never have thought about properly pampering my body. Or toning it. But celebrating myself and my achievements made me actually aware that I feel rather uncomfortable with my weight right now. My stomach feels uncomfortable and my thighs too. And knowing that belly fat has an effect on conditions like diabetes and heart disease I have decided to take action and responsibility for my body. Wow. Was that really me writing this????

Well, I assume caring for your body is as much part of self-care as is anything that has to do with changing your attitude towards yourself and writing a diary. And maybe it is a result of a changing attitude towards yourself. I seem to be the living proof of this.

No matter what it can’t be bad to move a little more, can it?

Last Week’s self-care music for The Bee

I liked JoAnna’s idea of the Beatles song “Let it be”. However, I chose another one with the same title. You already know which one 😉 .

So what Self-Care is in store for this week’s Music Monday Care & Love?

I challenge you to get a bit more physical. No, don’t worry. I don’t expect you to start training for a marathon or become the new strongman or strong woman champion. Unless you want to of course. Then I come along and cheer you on!!!! That sort of ambition needs to be supported by all means!!!

No, all I suggest is to add one teeny weeny activity that moves your body. Let’s say you take the stairs instead of the elevator. Or you go up your garden every evening and admire your roses. You can smell them too by the way ;-). Or you do some chair dancing. Yes, that is actually a thing! But you can be more ambitious if you feel like it.

After all, they say Mens Sana in corpore Sano which means a healthy mind in a healthy body. HA, now I sounded sophisticated LOL. (Never learned Latin but I have learned to read and use Wikipedia 😉 ) And a healthy mind and body are all we want, isn’t it?

But feel also free to skip this one and just celebrate your life with your favourite beverage. It’s entirely up you!

    I’m finally bak in the blogosphere after a month, so I’m going to get back to celebrating Music MOndays with you. 🙂 Getting even a bit more physical is such a good way of self care.I’m gonna have some more of it again as I’m soon going back to regular horse riding. I just love “Let It Be” from The Beatles, but this song is also really cool. 🙂

    1. Hi Emilia, great to have you back. Was missing you! You are right: just a little more exercise makes all the difference. Am glad you have the chance to ride. I never learned it even though my grandad was a riding teacher. I love both “Let it be’s”. Sometimes that’s the wisest thing to do. Take good care and read you soon 😚
