YouTube Tuesday ~ Your Brain Hallucinates your Conscious Reality ~ Anil Seth

March 2019

I know I have posted this talk already but I find it so fascinating, so you get the honour again 😉

January 2018

Last week I told you that I discovered TED Talks more fully. I often play one of their playlists and listen to talks about any given topic that takes my fancy when I cook or when I do the dishes.

Some are rather boring and I just skip them but a lot of them have made me ponder the world around me in a different way and certainly made me think: I didn’t know that!

Today’s video is one that has just reinforced a thought I am following since a while: reality is not as set in stone as society wants me to believe. There is a lot we do not know (yet) and a lot seems just to be made up… by whoever.

You just need to ask a police officer who has to find out about an incident and talks to witnesses. One incident but every one of the witnesses has witnessed it in a different way. So what is reality?

I doubt I will answer this question but I can give you some thoughts on how our brain “creates” our reality with this video:

May I invite you to share your favourite YouTube video too?

No matter what language, topic or style ~

write a post and share it here for me to visit your blog.

Can’t wait to find out more!

There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.” ― C.G. Jung

  1. I LOVE TED TALKS!!
I can’t believe that I just happened upon them via public radio. I feel like I’ve been missing something integral to my personal and emotion growth not having been aware sooner. Thanks for the video link?
