Poem of the Day: Hanging Tree of Life

Hanging Tree of Life

Dead men call out:

                           “Strange things do happen here!”

HOPE

The Girl on Strike

is she on fire?

Does she not

inspire

scare

&

URGE?

She planted

          seeds     of      life

and        evolution.

Trees grow

everywhere

NOW.

Maybe we hang.

Maybe we live.

“The Hanging Tree”
(with James Newton Howard)
(from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1” soundtrack) via AZLyrics

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
They strung up a man
They say who murdered three
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging treeAre you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where dead man called out
For his love to flee
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where I told you to run
So we’d both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
[Original line:] Wear a necklace of rope
[Line modified for effect:] Wear a necklace of hope
Side by side with me
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where I told you to run
So we’d both be free
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
They strung up a man
They say who murdered three
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree?
Where dead man called out
For his love to flee
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
In the hanging tree
