Simple Pleasures, Mindful Climate Action & A Reason to Fight

Welcome to “Mindful Music Monday Mug”. We are informal here. No perfect presentation of ourselves but loving the way we are with all the frizzy hair, laughing lines around our eyes and the messy home too!ย ย 

Hello self-care ninja’s, how has your week been? Have you had the chance to relax physically and make a change for future generations? I am not quite sure where I am standing at the moment. Woke up this morning and wasn’t motivated to do anything. I needed nearly 40 minutes to actually get up and that is always a sign that my mental health is spiralling down. So, I took the dog for a walk and started singing every single song I know by heart. Looks like I gave a few people a smile and my mood even started to pick up slowly. But I am still not quite right. Instead of writing this post I decided to make a new YouTube music list and said good morning to pretty much everybody on my WhatsApp contact list. Forgot to bake bread and nearly to feed the dog. The Future Learn course I had planned to finish this week needs to wait another day because I rather scheduled some more posts on my Hootsuite. Hmm, I kept myself busy enough but maybe I manage to get this post out now????

Whatโ€™s in our mugs this week?

And why mugs in this blog feature anyway? If you have signed up for the Bee Writes…/The Bee Createsโ€ฆ newsletter you got a download about easy daily steps to self-care. One of which is my โ€œSelf-appreciation mugโ€. No, it does not mean to get arrogant about yourself it means to allow yourself a mug (or glass) of your favourite beverage while contemplating what you have achieved and giving yourself praise for it. This is a great way to raise your self-esteem and to realise how far you have come which in turn will encourage to make more changes for the better.

Looks like I am in dire need for a more positive attitude towards myself today. So I celebrate I managed to walk the dog and bake bread in the end with a simple black tea, some cinnamon and almond milk. (I’m drinking it. I didn’t bake the bread with it ๐Ÿ˜‰ ) Oh, and vanilla sugar too. It’s delicious. Let’s face it, I have no motivation to create an anti-depressant herbal tea but you might be in a different place and long for an uplifting, slightly frantic video with a recipe for exactly that. So here you go.

Singing in the Rain ~ Week 11 ~ Simple Pleasures

Now if that is not synchronicity then I don’t know what is. I really do not feel like doing much today. But that cup of tea I mentioned above just made me feel that little bit more cherished. A moment ago I had to go and get the bread out of the oven. I love the smell of freshly baked bread. It makes me feel rich and happy because what is better than the smell of something freshly baked at home? There are, of course, times when I don’t manage to bake bread then smelling essential lavender oil does the trick too.ย These are my simple pleasures that I can manage no matter what which make me feel better.

Rachel mentions in this week’s chapter that we don’t always know exactly what we really enjoy. We might think that meeting a friend and gossiping is our enjoyment but looking closer we realise it makes us feel guilty. Or we might think to play online games will do the trick but it might also make our neck hurt or make us feel just slightly confused. Rachel suggests to writing down our activities we think we enjoy and then judge them on a score from 1-10. 1 least 10 most pleasurable. Just take a little time this week and figure out what little things you do that might make a difference for yourself.

Rachel also suggests to create some vouchers for simple pleasures, put them in a box and chose one a day to get into a routine of recognising the simple pleasures in your life. Maybe you try it out this week?

Looks like the United States figured it already out in 2015: Mindfulness practice does make you more aware of what is going on in our environment and encourages you more to do something. They created a program to combine both and you can find out more here:
