Bonjour mes amies, comment ca va? Well, my French isn’t as good as my English or German but I really love French music and so it was a no-brainer to go for a French singing musician for my visit to Canada.
Just in case you wonder what this is all about. I have recently developed an interest in finding music that is not so well known but also music from other countries than the US and the UK. So I’ve chosen #MusicMonday to travel around the world and choose music from the countries I “visit”, as well as, post translated lyrics if possible.
This year I also decided to add a linky so you can share your music posts. Feel free to “travel” the world with me or just share the music you love. All are welcome.
Today we meet Carolanne D’Astou Pique who took part in Canada’s Star Academy. When I looked her up on the internet I was surprised to only find 2 entries. It could, of course, be that there are only two English links and if I changed to French there would be more. But unfortunately, I have no time to find out more. Please forgive me.
So what does Wikipedia share about this young lady? She was born in 1990, started singing lessons aged 8 and played Hockey in a boys league. She came second at the Star Academy and went on to take part in several musicals.
Later she started working on a solo album but changed musical direction towards a more folk/country style. I could not find out if she, in fact, did a solo album. Maybe someone of you know?
Well, let’s leave the information behind and just enjoy her version of Michel Rivard’s “Liberer le tresor”.
If the video does not play here on the blog follow the link underneath which leads you to it’s YouTube location.

Liberer le Tresor ~ Free the treasure
Martin in the North looks at the clouds
And looking for a future by stifling rabies
Who squeezes his throat
Like a scarf that stings the neck
His parents disgust him and take him for a madman
He gets bored at school and makes fun of everything
What moves what thinks
What thinks he’s bigger than him
So he feels the storm threatening the sky of his life
There is a treasure
A wealth that sleeps
In the hearts of unloved children
Under the weight of silence
And indifference
Too often the treasure remains hidden
Free the treasure …
Mary in the South tight jaws
Fear is a habit she can not wash
From her sheets to her skirts
Of her hair color of wheat
She knows that the vampire is still free
Full black and proven innocence tie
The word of a man
Against a mutilated soul
So she feels the storm tearing the sky of her life
There is a treasure
A wealth that sleeps
In the hearts of unloved children
Under the weight of silence
And indifference
Too often the treasure remains hidden
Free the treasure …
And they hang out at Parc Lafontaine
For the hate crystals that freeze their veins
They are selling the body
As we avenge the death of a friend
And they seek love in the alleys of Paradise …
There is a treasure
A wealth that sleeps
In the hearts of unloved children
Under the weight of silence
And indifference
Too often the treasure remains hidden
Free the treasure …
