Introducing Luisa Neubauer and why she became a climate activist #ClimateJusticeSaturday

Hello dear readers, how are you on this hopefully beautiful Saturday? I hope life is treating you well and if there is a challenge on your path, remember that you rock! You can overcome anything thrown at you.

And let’s face it, there are more than enough challenges to go around for all of us. It’s been a while since I was talking about climate activists, but I feel it is more important than ever to introduce them to us.

The media seems to preoccupy us so much with the Coronavirus and here in the UK with the upcoming full Brexit that we seem to forget that all our lives will change entirely if we do not take steps to stop the ever faster-paced change of climate.

On YouTube, I stumbled over a young woman from Germany who became a climate activist because she was worried that her school chose to only talk about it in one school lesson. She believed that it is so much of a problem that she needs to do something. So she managed to go one of the UN Climate Conferences where she met Greta Thunberg.

Her name is Luisa Neubauer and she has since become an organizer for the German “Friday for Future” demonstrations. She studies Geography in Goettingen and writes for the German WWF blog (link is in German) as well as for Project Syndicate. I encourage you to check out “Project Syndicate – The Worlds Opinion Page” as many forward-thinking scientists and politicians are writing for this online and offline magazine. I discovered it a couple of months ago when Guy Verhofstadt wrote about Brexit.

But back to Luisa Neubauer. I share with you a video of her TEDx Munich talk from 2018 in which she encourages everybody to become a climate activist. No, you don’t need to go on demonstrations or share leaflets about veganism. Just become aware of the topic, learn as much as you can and then use your influence as a consumer, voter and reader of newspapers or blogger to encourage more and more of us to do the right thing. And, of course, decide where you can change your behaviour.

I have nothing to add to this 🙂 just some poetic words:

in our hands day by day

listen to nature

In this sense, love & rage my friends, love & rage!!!!

Just one more thing before you go: The hospital that is treating me for cancer is fundraising for a dedicated breast cancer unit which would allow same-day diagnosis and better premises for patients and staff.

Please, if you can spare a little money hop over to their Just Giving Page and give as little or much as you can. Or share the page on your social media. Your support means a lot to me! Thank you very much.
