Hello out there, how do you like “Love Is In Da Blog 2021” so far? I am absolutely gobsmacked about your great support and participation. It is so much fun.
Today’s prompt
Diego Rivera & Frida Kahlo ~ Find a Jazz love-song and/or write a Contrapuntal poem about Rivera & Kahlo
was rather fun. I enjoyed both the music search and trying out a new to me poetry form but have to admit I wasn’t particularly inspired by their love story. Even though I do not know why because it certainly was an tumultuous one. A couple of years ago I watched a documentary about Kahlo’s life and how both Rivera and Kahlo’s work influenced Mexican culture. She certainly was an inspired artist.
I was pondering why Rivera and Kahlo came together and worked my assumptions into the poem. Here are the two parts first:
Diego
She is so young and
deliciously alive but
I love her.
I hate her.
Only sometimes
it brings us closer.
Frida
I am an old soul and
sometimes feel dead inside.
I love him.
I hate him
only sometimes and
~ it tears us apart
These two parts come together in
Diego & Frida
She is so young and
I am an old soul and
Deliciously alive but
Sometimes feel dead inside.
I love her.
I love him.
I hate her.
I hate him.
Only sometimes.
Only sometimes and
it brings us closer.
~
It tears us apart.
I feel this was an exciting process to come to this poem. Will certainly use this form more often as it gives us the chance to explore a topic from different sides but bring it together into something new. How did you feel about the writing process?
But now to the music part. I love Jazz sometimes but am not a regular listener to it. This lady though made me move and sing along. Please let me know if you have heard of Postmodern Jukebox a band Robyn Adele Anderson is part of. Apparently, they did a successful cover of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” and she has a highly liked YouTube channel too. But enough words. Let’s get singing and dancing 😉
Tomorrow we’ll move around the globe again and back in time. This is tomorrows prompt:
Paris & Helen ~ Find a love song of war and/or write an ode to Helen & Paris
Let’s see what we can come up with 🙂
Now dear Love Is In Da Bloggers
go, find music, write poetry
and have lots of fun!!!!
This year we top “Love Is In Da Blog”. I’ve decided to combine music with poetry and offer a prompt to a theme. The theme is “Great Love Stories” and you can either find a song for the prompt, write a poem for the prompt or do both. I’ve chosen a list of exciting love stories and am offering some poetry forms that I’ve never tried before and you maybe neither. That is why I put the prompts on all my “Come Away With Me” posts in January so we have enough time to prepare. Find out about suggestions on how to take part and prompts here:
“Love Is In Da Blog” Rules/suggestions
- Join in! No matter where, when and with what. You missed the first day or week? Don’t worry. Just jump in when it suits you.
- Send us the link! The ping-back option does not always work so please leave a link in the comments of the post on the day you take part.
- Tag your post either with “Love Is In Da Blog” or “LoIsInDaBl” or “Love Is In Da Blog 21” or #LoIsInDaBl21. You can also use these as hashtags for Twitter and other Social Networks to give your post more exposure.
- No matter which music the prompt favours you create with it whatever you please, and whatever length you please (no pun intended 😉 ) as long as it is about “LOVE.”
- I post the prompt post the day before which is connected with the music for that day so you have some time to make up your mind and create your post. There won’t be two different posts and I hope it’s not too confusing.
