Hello, dear Love is In Da Bloggers, there are some rather tragic love stories around, aren’t there? Today’s certainly hits that sad mark but what a beautiful and hopeful sign that love transcends into butterflies. I really loved that about todays story.
If you do not know what I am on about have a look here:
Today’s prompt is: The Butterfly Lovers ~ Find a pop love song with a butterfly in it and/or write a Gu Ti poem (second form in the article)
I wanted to choose a pop song. Really I did. But then YouTube played me Leonard Cohen’s “Dance Me To The End of Love” and I felt it fits the Butterfly Lovers so much that there is no pop song and no butterfly. But that’s what Love Is In Da Blog is all about: Our freedom to choose whatever we feel fits! So here, another of my favourite love songs that my husband doesn’t like 😉
Sigh.
Blimey, there are so, so many poetry forms out there. I find it amazing that every culture seems to have their poetry style and likes. Using them makes me feel connected to all poets all over the world and throughout the time. A lovely feeling.
So here, my first go at a Gu Ti poem:
Butterfly Lovers
Travelling like a man
Zhu Meets Ling
Not knowing her as “She”
They become friends.
And she promises him
to marry her sister.
But finding out identity
He despairs
For she is spoken for
to another man
Soon he’s gone forever
but winds prevent
an unhappy marriage:
Butterflies from the grave.
This form is interesting and I will need some time to get to grips with it. But it was exciting to try it out and do my first steps. How did you fare?
Tomorrow we are back closer to our times with
Johnny Cash & June Carter ~ Find a country love song and/or write a Senryu about love
Now dear Love Is In Da Bloggers
go, find music, write poetry
and have lots of fun!!!!

Your support means a lot to me! Thank you very much.
Thanks, my dears, for staying with me until the end.
I appreciate your presence.
Please stay safe, stay kind and remember that you rock!
Cohen stated that Dance Me to the End of Love was inspired by the Holocaust. He heard or read or knew that in certain of the death camps beside the crematoria, a string quartet was pressed into performance while this horror was going on, and these people would meet the same fate and they had to play classical music while their fellow prisoners were being killed and burnt.

So do I, even though I wasn’t aware that Cohen wrote it because of the holocaust. Jim pointed that out 🙋♀️🐝
