Guest Post by Tamara Ferguson: Magical Weddings

This post was first published in August 2015 and I encourage you to check out Tamara’s books:

Today I am glad to welcome Tamara Ferguson back to “The Bee Writes…” It is always a pleasure to hear from her newest projects and that is what she is telling us about today. So with no further ado over to Tamara:

I’d like to tell everyone a little about my latest story, Two Hearts Surrendered.  It’s the first novella I’ve ever written, as well as my first attempt at tackling military romance.  At the end of last year, when I was asked if I’d like to contribute a story to
Magical Weddings, my first thought was this:  Why not try writing a story that’s a little different from what I’m accustomed to writing?
Thanks so much for having me here today, Bee.  I LOVE visiting with you and your incredible readers!
And after deciding to write a military romance, what was the second thought that popped into my mind?  The horrors going on in the world today.  Between the threats of terrorism, and the never-ending reports of the crimes against humanity, the world of today seems so overwhelming.
But military stories are very popular. I began considering what life must be like for the pilots who are ordered to bomb the cities like Kobani – when there are sometimes innocent victims involved.  I decided what I wanted was to delve into the head and heart of my hero, who was returning home as a wounded warrior.
But this was a romance that needed a happily-ever-after!  I’d like to think that I’ve succeeded in writing a story that’s emotional, but with only enough information about the dark side of the war to be thought-provoking to the reader.  Luke Bryant had struggles to begin with – he was abused as a child.  It’s my heroine’s ability to believe in their love and to stand by his side, even though my hero is effectively attempting to shut Kelly Callahan out of his life – that eventually leads them to – what I hope – is an enchanting happily-ever-after!
Despite my contribution being a novella, because of the time constraints, it was difficult writing and editing one of the most complicated stories I’ve ever come up with.
About Magical Weddings – Two Hearts Surrendered:
Luke Bryant and Kelly Callahan met on the beach at Dragonfly Pointe when thirteen-year-old Luke saved six-year-old Kelly from drowning.  He and Kelly shared an undeniable connection through their childhood.  But with his tarnished past, Luke refuses to act on the attraction he begins feeling for Kelly.
When he finally comes home on leave from the air force and attends the Magical Wedding of Kelly’s sister Kate (That Unforgettable Kiss), Luke and Kelly spend an enchanting night together.  They simply can’t help themselves – they’ve loved each other nearly their entire lives.
College student Kelly has everything going for her – she’s beautiful, smart and intelligent.  So when Luke eventually returns home from Iraq as a wounded warrior, despite the fact that he doesn’t appear to want anything to do with her, she refuses to give up on him. It’s not about his looks or his past – it’s all about the connection they’ve shared since they were kids.  Fate has always meant for them to be together – she’s sure of it.  But will Kelly ever be able to convince Luke to surrender his heart?
Praise For Two Hearts Surrendered:
Two Hearts Surrendered was one of my favourite stories but it truly tugs at the heart–Goodreads Reviewer
Two Surrendered Hearts by Tamara Ferguson was emotional, a story of true love meant to be, in this case, it started as kids. It shows how you have to sometimes deal with the hard things in life in order to get your happily ever after- Goodreads/Amazon Reviewer
Two Hearts Surrendered was an awesome novella! I had some personal reasons for reading this one;, one because I’m from Wisconsin and the other because I am an amputee. I won’t give anything away, but suffice it to say that the road for Kelly and Luke is long and painful. Can she be strong when he needs it and can he be strong when she needs it? The answer is found between the pages of a very well written story. I was pleased to see the amputee storyline was well done, empathetic and well researched, which often isn’t the case in many of the books I’ve read. This one story in the box set not to miss! (And was excited to see the shout out to Rice Lake!)-Author Katie Mettner
My favourite story was “Two Hearts Surrendered.” When Air Force pilot Luke Bryant was 13, he saved the life of six-year-old Kelly Callahan. While home on leave 14 years later, he attends a wedding and runs into a now 20-year-old Kelly. After only hours to get to know each other, his leave is over. They stay in contact promising themselves to each other when suddenly he is sent on a secret mission. After she doesn’t hear from him for months, she learns he was critically hurt and refuses to see her. The magic of this story is how he comes to terms with his injuries so he can share his life with Kelly – Kathy Wagner –For Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock Magical Weddings CommentBee’s Review on Goodreads

What projects am I working on at the present?
Besides finally getting some work done around my house?  My next instalment of Romantic Suspense, of course – Tales of the Dragonfly Book III:  Emergence.  This is the story of Lucy Callahan, the eighteen-year-old girl who was kidnapped and assaulted in Tales of the Dragonfly Book I:  In Tandem.  The members of the human trafficking ring who were responsible for capturing her have remained at-large.  It’s nearly a year later, and Lucy’s still having troubles recovering from her ordeal when she realizes she’s being stalked by the man who raped her.  Her inner strength shines through when she assists the FBI and confronts her rapist – while falling in love with the former FBI agent who’s acting as her bodyguard.  Lucy lives and works in Gabe Giordano’s home, as his seven-year-old daughter’s nanny, while attending the college where Gabe has become an instructor.  You’ll also get a glimpse of Kelly Callahan’s and Luke Bryant’s past growing up together in Crystal Rock before Their Two Hearts Surrendered.
And with the success of That Unforgettable Kiss (Kissed By FateBook 1), I’ve also begun working up my outline for the next instalment of new adult romance, That Unexpected Kiss.
My plans for future projects?
Many new beginnings – with a touch of magic – at the fated Dragonfly Pointe.
