Happy Platinum Anniversary

Wow, her royal highness Queen Elizabeth II is one hell of a woman, I think. Yes, there is all that being priviledged and she was a bit too traditional with marrying her first-born son of to “someone suitable”. But doing a job for 70 years is quite something. And I think being in the limelight all the time does cost you something. We do not know how it is when we are not in the situation, do we? So I feel:” who am I to judge?”

πŸ€—

Good for her to be celebrated up and down the country this week. However, I am not a fan of flags. But flags seem to be an absolute essential of a good old British celebration. Our village is rather hot on them and so yesterday this went up in front of our house on the village green:

When I sit on the sofa I can see it in the window and it uses all my strength not to curse continuously. πŸ€ͺ

It reminded me of a song though 😁

The Village Green Preservation Society” by The Kinks

We are the Village Green Preservation Society
God save Donald Duck, Vaudeville and Variety
We are the Desperate Dan Appreciation Society
God save strawberry jam and all the different varieties
Preserving the old ways from being abused
Protecting the new ways for me and for you
What more can we do
We are the Draught Beer Preservation Society
God save Mrs. Mopp and good Old Mother Riley
We are the Custard Pie Appreciation Consortium
God save the George Cross and all those who were awarded them
We are the Sherlock Holmes English Speaking Vernacular
Help save Fu Manchu, Moriarty and Dracula
We are the Office Block Persecution Affinity
God save little shops, china cups and virginity
We are the Skyscraper condemnation Affiliate
God save tudor houses, antique tables and billiards
Preserving the old ways from being abused
Protecting the new ways for me and for you
What more can we do
God save the Village Green.

And so I go around grinning and humming and making a blogpost out of my predicament 🀣.

Please stay safe, stay kind and remember to celebrate great women with or without flags 😜
