Home?

When I schedule this post we still don’t know when we are moving. This “inbetween” and “not knowing when” is driving me nuts and I hope by the time this post goes live we know more.

It was home for some time
Now we are leaving
Sadness mixed with love

Please stay safe, stay kind and remember: you rock!

PS: we are in Ireland now and looking for our new home. Hopefully this is our last move 😎

    1. Ireland was always our Plan B just in case the boat thing wouldn’t work out. But once we started the house selling process I realised how unsafe I felt in the UK since Brexit. I do have settled status but no written proof only a link so nothing stops the UK authorities to throw me out whenever they please. The Windrush scandal has shown how happy the authorities in the UK are not to give a donkeys tail if you are born in the country or not. Without written proof you are out no matter what. I am terrified of the narrative that comes from Pritti Patel, Liz Truss and the rest of them. It’s simply not a country anymore neither Andy nor I want to live in. We were thinking of leaving since June 2016 but didn’t because we didn’t want to be far away from the children. They are grown now and go their own ways and it’s time to fulfil a dream. The boat wasn’t really what we wanted. What we always spoke of was a plot of land in the middle of nowhere where we can be as self-sufficient as we can. And we can find and finance that now in Ireland. But we left the UK with a very heavy heart. πŸ˜”

      1. I’m glad you are sorting things out to your satisfaction and peace of mind. If we could leave the UK we could, there is no family ties here, but we don’t have the means to support us or qualifications to warrant acceptance elsewhere. Plus our age and health is also against us. Good luck!

  1. The state of the country is a constant worry and the two choices for Tory leader and PM fill me with dread. Inflation is going through the roof, and the energy costs soarin, but the government do nothing about it, although they could if they wanted to. Cutting taxes won’t help anybody already out of the tax bracket, like us, and with the triple lock ‘protecting pensioners’ and the potential for almost Β£1000 a year extra will NOT help with energy bills being double that, and will also put many in the tax bracket anyway, so win win for the Tories and death by default to the elderly, infirm, disabled, and needy.

    1. We are on the same Page with that.πŸ€— What I do not get is though why so many vote Tory who win absolutely nothing from their reign. And it’s not that long ago when Thatcher did similar even though I think her reign wasn’t as toxic as it is now. πŸ˜”

  2. I wish you good luck and all the best for your plan to have a new home. For me it sounds like something I also can wish for.
Our daughter is thinking about three or six months learning at an international school in UK, but now we are discussing Ireland as a better solution. Maybe I will come one day around the corner to ask you one or two questions πŸ™‚

    1. You and your family are welcome any time. At the moment I would suggest Ireland. The UK goes through a difficult transformation and in our opinion not in a good direction. But our opinion is just one of many. It certainly would be easier with any paperwork. πŸ€—

      1. Yes, we are thinking like you and our daughter already mentioned Ireland on her own. Not only because of the difficulties with the BREXIT and the overall situation, she explained that Ireland looks more beautiful to her 😁
