Happy “Love Is In Da Blog”, everybody. Thanks so much for enriching this blog event and giving us so much joy. You rock, and I love you, and it doesn’t matter how kitsch that might sound 🙂 . I hope you enjoyed the first prompt as much as I did.

For today’s prompt “Choose your own” I am sharing with you one of my 2022 favourites. The band is called Auri and is from Finland. Keyboardist and backing vocalist Tuomas Holopainen, and guitarist, keyboardist and pipe player Troy Donockley were part of the symphonic Metal Band Nightwish. Still, they always wanted to make music that connects the listener to other dimensions. So they were joined by Holopainen’s wife, Johanna Kurkela.

I stumbled upon them in the autumn of 2022 when Spotify” suggested their song “Night 13” to me, which carried me through the travelling. The refrain

"Goodnight to an old soul

simply resonated with me. We left our old life behind and now start a new one on an island. Ireland feels like my island. For the first time in decades, I feel like coming home despite the troubles we are currently going through. I love Auri’s mysterious lyrics, their Scandinavian fantasy sound and their experimental music. It inspires and soothes me. The song I am sharing is “Aphrodite Rising”. Aphrodite is the greek goddess of love. I think she is sometimes thought to be synonymous with the Roman Goddess Venus. My step-mom always said that I look a little like Botticelli’s “Birth of Venus”, which I found rather embarrassing in my teens. Now though, I feel rather pleased, LOL. I reviewed Kaitlin Bevis’ book “Aphrodite” in another life, which was a blast to read. And not to forget the curious character of Aphrodite in “Xena” the Warrior Princess”. I like this goddess, and I like it even more that Auri makes her sound like a stalker. Not that stalkers are a good thing. I had one, got the t-shirt, and it didn’t fit at all. 😉 but it’s interesting to do a different take on an old story.

Allen ein frohes „Love Is In Da Blog“. Vielen Dank, dass Ihr dieses Blog-Event bereichert und uns so viel Freude bereitet. Ihr rockt und ich liebe Euch, egal wie kitschig das klingen mag 🙂 . Ich hoffe, Euch hat der erste Impuls genauso gut gefallen, wie mir.

Ich teile mit Euch einen meiner Favoriten von 2022. Die Band heißt Auri und kommt aus Finnland. Der Keyboarder und Backgroundsänger Tuomas Holopainen und der Gitarrist, Keyboarder und Pfeifenspieler Troy Donockley waren Teil der Symphonic Metal Band Nightwish. Trotzdem wollten sie immer Musik machen, die den Hörer mit anderen Dimensionen verbindet. Also gesellte sich Holopainens Frau Johanna Kurkela zu ihnen.

Ich bin im Herbst 2022 über sie gestolpert, als „Spotify“ mir ihren Song „Night 13“ vorgeschlagen hat, der mich durch das Reisengetragen hat. Der Refrain

„Gute Nacht einer alten Seele
Abschied vom einmal gelebten Leben
Das ist jetzt meine Insel
Um es noch einmal zu leben
Nicht mehr lange”

hat mich einfach überzeugt. Wir haben unser altes Leben hinter uns gelassen und beginnen jetzt ein neues auf einer Insel. Irland fühlt sich an wie meine Insel. Zum ersten Mal seit Jahrzehnten habe ich das Gefühl, nach Hause zu kommen, trotz der Schwierigkeiten, die wir derzeit durchmachen. Ich liebe Auris mysteriöse Texte, ihren skandinavischen Fantasy-Sound und ihre experimentelle Musik. Es inspiriert und beruhigt mich. Das Lied, das ich teile, ist „Aphrodite Rising“. Aphrodite ist die griechische Göttin der Liebe. Ich denke, sie wird manchmal als Synonym für die römische Göttin Venus angesehen. Meine Stiefmutter hat immer gesagt, dass ich ein bisschen wie Botticellis „Geburt der Venus“ aussehe, was ich als Teenager ziemlich peinlich fand. Jetzt bin ich das aber nicht mehr, LOL. Ich habe das Buch „Aphrodite“ von Kaitlin Bevis in einem anderen Leben rezensiert, was eine tolle Lektüre war. Und nicht zu vergessen die kuriose Figur der Aphrodite in „Xena, die Kriegerprinzessin“. Ich mag diese Göttin und ich mag es noch mehr, dass Auri sie wie eine Stalkerin klingen lässt. Nicht, dass Stalker etwas Gutes wären. Ich hatte einen, bekam das T-Shirt und es passte überhaupt nicht. 😉 aber es ist interessant, eine alte Geschichte anders zu interpretieren.
