Hello, Love Is In Da Bloggers; please bear with me on this one.

Most of you probably only know of the Darkness from their Christmas Hit “Christmas Time“, where singer and guitar player Justin Hawkins makes a bit of an idiot of himself. I always loved the irony of this song but never took the band or the singer seriously. Recently though, we stumbled over Justin’s YouTube Channel, “Justin Hawkins Rides Again,” and realised that he is an incredible musician with a lot of knowledge about music. He still has a lot of humour, and it’s just such a joy to see him and learn about music. He has also worked a lot on his issues, and you can see and feel how compassionate and settled in himself he is.

So, I thought for today’s prompt

NOT a Valentine’s Love Song

I choose one of their songs. I think it’s from their 2019 album “Easter Is Cancelled” and I assume it deals with the breakup with his wife.

The Darkness are a British rock band formed in Lowestoft, England. The band consists of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, lead guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Rufus Tiger Taylor (drums, backing vocals).

The Darkness came to prominence with the release of their debut album, Permission to Land, in 2003. Backed by the singles “I Believe in a Thing Called Love”, “Growing on Me”, “Get Your Hands off My Woman”, and “Love Is Only a Feeling”, the album was certified quadruple platinum in the United Kingdom, with sales of over 1.3 million.[1] In 2004 the band won three Brit Awards: Best British Group, Best British Rock Act, and Best British Album.[2]

After extensive touring in support of their debut album, Poullain left the band in 2005, and was replaced by former guitar technician Richie Edwards. The band’s second studio album, One Way Ticket to Hell… and Back, was released in November 2005. The following year, Justin Hawkins departed from the band after successfully completing a course of rehabilitation from alcohol and cocaine abuse.[3] This, combined with the poor sales of the album, resulted in Atlantic dropping the band in October 2006.[4] After the split, the remaining members formed Stone Gods, and continued to perform and record without Hawkins, who subsequently fronted his own project, Hot Leg.

On 15 March 2011, the Darkness announced reunion shows, with original bassist Frankie Poullain, including Download Festival 2011, and the Isle of Wight Festival 2012

Hallo, Love Is In Da Bloggers ; Bitte habt ein bisschen Geduld mit mir mit diesem Post.

Die meisten von euch kennen The Darkness wahrscheinlich nur von ihrem Weihnachtshit „Christmas Time“, in dem sich Sänger und Gitarrist Justin Hawkins ein bisschen zum Idioten macht. Ich habe die Ironie dieses Songs immer geliebt, aber die Band oder den Sänger nie ernst genommen. Kürzlich sind wir jedoch über Justins YouTube-Kanal „Justin Hawkins Rides Again“ gestolpert und haben festgestellt, dass er ein unglaublicher Musiker mit viel Wissen über Musik ist. Er hat immer noch viel Humor und es ist einfach eine Freude, ihn zu sehen und etwas über Musik zu lernen. Er hat auch viel an seinen Problemen gearbeitet, und man sieht und spürt, wie mitfühlend und in sich gefestigt er ist.

Also dachte ich beim heutigen Impuls

Ich wähle einen ihrer Songs aus. Ich denke, es stammt von ihrem 2019er Album „Easter Is Cancelled“ und ich nehme an, es handelt von der Trennung von seiner Frau.
