OK, I am a bit in a pickle here. Myanmar or previously Burma is an incredibly versatile country with over 130 different people groups, that all have their own culture. The country has always kept to itself as much as it can but has one hell of a war history as it lies between the powers of China & India and, of course, has its colonial history too.
I simply do not have the time or knowledge to adequately explain the situation in the country. I still want to show my solidarity with the country’s people though.
So please, accept these two videos which explain a little, about what is going on, and if you want to know more check out Geography Now’s post here.
Please stay safe, stay kind & remember to give thanks if you live in a country that is at peace.

I watched several of the videos. Very sad and disturbing.

My Grandfather worked on ‘that bridge’ in Burma. I know I have a photograph of him in uniform somewhere, unless one of my siblings now have it?

Wow, that is some history to talk about. Even though I have to admit that I connect it now with “Top Gear” and the river with the rude name 🫣

A nightmare which is no longer ‘a fashionable’ concern in The West.
Thanks for reminding us.

That is very true. It’s quite terrifying how fast the news cycle moves on 😕
