If I’d take part in “Blogging from A – Z” I would introduce you to an artist I have just recently discovered. Her artist name is Bishop Briggs and I thought she had a song in the film “Birds of Prey and the fantabulous Emancipation of one Harley Quinn“.

However, when I checked on the music list I couldn’t find her. So I researched a little more and found her song “Baby” with “Suicide Squat” and “White Flag” with “6 Underground“. That was the film I discovered her from.

I absolutely love her style and the lyrics. There is another song “River” that I love but I can’t remember where I got that one from.

Ok, some info about the lady:

Sarah Grace McLaughlin (born 18 July 1992), known professionally as Bishop Briggs, is a British-American singer and songwriter.[4][1] Her single “River” peaked at number three on the US Alternative Chart.[5] It was included on her debut album, Church of Scars, released on 20 April 2018.[6]…

After moving to Los Angeles, Briggs wrote and played all over the city in any venue she could, eventually recording her first single “Wild Horses” in July 2015. Many listeners found Briggs via Shazam when seeing an Acura commercial which features the song. In late 2015, “Wild Horses” began climbing the charts again, entering the top 30 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and top 13 on the Billboard Twitter Emerging Artist charts.

In January 2016, Briggs released the single “River”. The song was a commercial success. The song reached number 1 on Hype Machine’s Popular charts and on Spotify’s US Viral 50 and No. 2 on the Global Viral 50.[11] It also received an Honorable Mention on Shazam’s predicted Songs of the Summer 2016, which was featured in Billboard. “River” climbed into the top 3 on the ‘Billboard Alternative Songs chart and top 10 on the Billboard Hot Rock, Rock Airplay and Twitter Emerging Artist charts….

Als ich jedoch die Musikliste überprüfte, konnte ich sie nicht finden. Also habe ich ein bisschen weiter recherchiert und bin auf ihren Song „Baby“ mit „Suicide Squat“ und „White Flag“ mit „6 Underground“ gestoßen. Das war der Film, aus dem ich sie entdeckte.

Ich liebe ihren Stil und die Texte. Es gibt noch ein anderes Lied, „River“, das ich liebe, aber ich kann mich nicht erinnern, woher ich das habe.

Ok, ein paar Infos zu der Dame:

Bishop Briggs (bürgerlich: Sarah Grace McLaughlin; * 18. Juli 1992 in London) ist eine britische Alternative-/Electronic-Musikerin….

Ein Auftritt in einer Bar führte 2015 zur Aufnahme ihrer ersten Single Wild Horses, damals noch unter ihrem alten Künstlernamen Bishop. Diesen änderte Bishop Briggs 2016 zu ihrem aktuellen Künstlernamen, um eine Verwechslung mit der Band Bishop zu vermeiden.[4] Wild Horses wurde in den USA in einem TV-Werbespot für eine Automarke verwendet und daraufhin zu einem Internet-Hit. Im Januar 2016 folgte die zweite Single River, welche im Internet ebenfalls sehr erfolgreich war. Dadurch wurde sie von anderen Künstlern (u. a. Coldplay) als Opening Act auf deren Konzerten gebucht und konnte ihre Popularität weiter steigern. Auch ein Auftritt in der Tonight Show bei Jimmy Fallon trug nochmals zu ihrer Bekanntheit bei.[5] Im Juli 2017 wurde sie für über 500.000 verkaufte Einheiten von River von der Recording Industry Association of America mit einer goldenen Schallplatte ausgezeichnet.
