Five Photos Five Stories Challenge ~ Day One

I published this post first in October 2015 but felt a little virtual travel can’t be bad in spring 2021 ;-):

Description for visually impaired readers: Landscape in Switzerland: meadow in foreground. Hills in middle covered with little forests. Mountains and sky with a little white cloud in background

This is one of my favourite photos from our holiday in Switzerland. Two weeks ago I told you about the delightful Muedespachers in Wald whom we stayed with and last week about our trip to Rapperswil. This was taken on a trip through the mountains that my uncle invited us to. The weather wasn’t too good when we started in the morning, but it cleared up the further we went into the mountains.

My uncle and his family used to and do many trips around Switzerland (it is not a very big country after all) and he is interested in many things so he could tell us a lot about the Glaciers, the mountains, how Switzerland produces electricity (has a lot to do with water and dams) and how traditional farming families still live in the mountains.

The whole trip was about 350 KM (about 220 miles) and lasted the whole day. Afterwards, we were all exhausted. But it was the best part of the holiday and we’ve seen soooooooooooooo much. Big thanks and hugs to my uncle.

I took this photo on the street above the Stein Glacier. My uncle parked at the side and we could go over the street and had a beautiful view of the glacier and the mountains. As it happened a few cows were grazing underneath us so I took a photo that plays into a lot of prejudices or perceptions foreigners have of Switzerland. I hope you love it as much as I do!

In July, my blogging friend Helen nominated me for the “Five Days Five Stories Challenge” but as I was out of blogging at that time I am doing it now. I have to say it is quite difficult to find fellow bloggers who either have not taken part yet or are not a reward free blog. I found four so far and the fifth I will just try out. I hope all of my “chosen ones” find it in their heart and their keyboards 😉 to take part.

Here are the rules for the “Five Photos Five Stories” challenge: “Post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge.”

Today I am nominating Merlinda at Glimmer o Hope (blog does not exist anymore)
