The weekend is looming for all those who have one, and that is a wonderful time to get poetic.
On Wednesday, I suggested writing a poem about yourself. Like a self-portrait that painters or photographers do.
I wrote about my experience of the dreaded selfie-stick in London last year.
I believed that the media had hyped up that phenomenon, but they hadn’t. But let’s not get into that. The idea emerged from that experience, though to write a “selfie-poem.”
You can read the exact prompt here: “Selfish “The Day Jobbers Essential Poetry Prompt.”

So here we go. I’ll get poetic about myself, and I am not sure I am up for that. What on earth can one write about oneself?
Well, sometimes you just have to jump into the well and go for it. Maybe I’ll find my Mother Hulda and her beds and apple trees and the bread oven…
Bee’s Poem
Look into my eyes
Bluish grey I would say
Deep like the well
I jumped into
Long ago.
Do they
Convey to you
A little of the pain
I have gone through?
Do they convey to you
The wisdom I have learned?
Do they convey to you
The humour I have lost
And
Found again?
Do these words inspire you to write your own “Selfie-Poem”? Do they encourage you to share them with us either here in the comments or a link to your blog? I am looking forward to reading from you.
